Work has started on the second phase of the Xemxija promenade embellishment project, which is due to be completed by June.

While the first phase was carried out by a private contractor, the second phase is being done out by workers from the Works Division of the Resources and Infrastructure Ministry following an agreement with the local council.

Through this agreement, the council will be saving Lm35,000, Minister Ninu Zammit said when he visited the works.

The third phase of the project will consist of the reconstruction of the promenade from Xemxija Bay to the Xemxija church and will be carried out after the summer.

Embellishment on the Xghajra promenade is expected to be completed by the end of June.

Mr Zammit said that local councils which had worked with the ministry in such projects had saved over Lm80,000 between them.
