At Present, some upgrading work is under way at the Xemxija promenade. It appears that parking is going to be reduced drastically because of the exaggerated width of the new pavement, which is stretched to the centre of the road.
This means that we boat owners are going to face a big problem when we come to park our cars and trailers because that was the only place to do so.
We already faced this ordeal at the Bugibba shipway where parking in that area was greatly reduced.
Is it possible that the local council, works ministry and the appointed architects weren't aware that this was a much-needed parking space? Have we got to go through the nightmare of finding where to park our trailers in summer?
I hope that somebody will study this issue and consider our problem. I also expect the Malta Maritime Authority to put pressure in our favour; after all, it's the same entity that absorbs our yearly licenses and fees, and obliged us to attend the safety at sea course.
So please give us boat owners some peace of mind for our cars and trailers because summer is near!
