A group of 14 students of French from San Andrea Senior School last month set off for Chambéry, accompanied by Marie Louise Vella and Sharon Abela, their French teachers.
Once again, this student exchange was organised to encourage students to learn French and have fun at the same time. In fact, this experience helped them make use of mastered words as well as learn new words and expressions used in the everyday life of a French girl or boy of their same age.
Living in a French home, becoming a member of a French family, being immersed in a French environment 24 hours a day, going to a French school, attending lessons, observing and listening - all these enhance instinctive learning. Furthermore, the Maltese students were given the opportunity to discover a new geographical setting, that of Chambéry, in the southeastern region of Rhône-Alpes.
The excursions included going round the Lac de Bourget, the largest natural lake in France, visiting natural spas or the so called termes at Aix-Les-Bains, visiting Chambéry the ex-capital city of Savoie, and skiing, which undoubtedly resulted in an unforgettable experience for everyone.
The French students from the Collèges Notre-Dame du Rocher and St François, two church schools in the same town, will be coming to Malta in May accompanied by M. Jean-Christophe Eichenlaub, their music teacher.
