Joseph Vella, the executive chef of Hilton International, St Julians was awarded membership with professional status of the international gourmet society in Paris, La Confrerie de la Chaine des Rotisseurs, for his very imaginative and high-standard menu and presentation.

The award was first announced during a Diner Amical held last June for members of the Bailliage National de Malte, hosted by Hilton's general manager, Fredrich Shafer. Recently, he was presented with the award during a presentation held at the Portomaso Suite, attended by Dutch Ambassador Rienko Wilton.
