Deportee jailed

A Jordanian man was yesterday jailed for a total of two years and six months after he admitted to failing to alert the authorities when he came to Malta following a previous deportation.

Magistrate Anthony Vella jailed Najih Rebih Sadat Kanan, 29, for six months for failing to inform the Immigration Authorities when he arrived in Malta and committing the offence during the operative time of a suspended two-year jail term.

Consequently, the magistrate ordered that the suspended jail term be put into effect bringing the total jail term to two years and six months.

Police Inspectors Denise Mula and Therese Sciberras prosecuted.
