Roadworks cause traffic havoc

Traffic was at a virtual standstill yesterday morning all the way from Ta' Xbiex to Msida due to roadworks taking place along Triq ix-Xatt ta' Ta' Xbiex.

As a result, a car journey from Sliema to Valletta took 50 minutes instead of the usual 15 minutes.

The Malta Transport Authority said yesterday that due to emergency works being carried out by the Water Services Corporation's waste water unit, public transport and vehicular traffic from the Strand, Gzira, towards Valletta will be diverted to Triq il-Gnien, Triq Testaferrata and Triq d'Argens which is now open to two-way traffic. Public transport and vehicular traffic from Triq d'Argens towards Msida will be diverted to Triq l-Imsida and Triq Testaferrata.
