The Computing Services Centre is currently piloting a campus wireless access system at the University House (Canteen and Junior Common Room) and at the CSC main site (Library basement).

This pilot service enables University students and staff to access online information and e-mail using laptops that support wireless connections. Once connected to the wireless access point, users can start using the service by launching a Web browser and authenticating using their CSC User ID and password. Students and staff requiring assistance are invited to bring over their laptop to CSC.

There are no charges associated with use of the pilot service. The CSC is planning to deploy more wireless access points in other communal areas on campus, both outside and within buildings. CSC is in process of identifying suitable locations and is inviting all departments to express their interest in proposing locations, especially within their respective buildings.

Requests should be made through the Head of Department. CSC is also requesting that any departments who may have already installed their own wireless access points, or who are intending to install such access points, to register these access points and their interest with the CSC.
