Alligators clinically disposed of Sharks with ruthless efficiency.

At first the Sharks' tackling was a difficult hurdle but this probably inspired Alligators not to take things easy and to keep playing constructive rugby.

Tries were scored by Claud Sammut (2), Sullivan (2), Corthwaite (2), Parnis-England (2), Micallef (3), Mizzi (2), Pace (3), Busuttil (1), and Mark Gasan (1); Pace converted 14 times.

Mizzi made a strong contribution on his comeback after injury and Pierre Micallef yet again showed his potential.

The experienced players such as Corthwaite, Sullivan, Busuttil, Pace, Parnis-England and Sammut all concentrated on keeping a good pattern to the game. A special mention must be made of Cordina who seems a lot more mobile as the season goes on. He is beginning to carry his size and weight to good effect.

Unfortunately, in the absence of their fiery and inspirational captain, Spagnol, through injury, for the first time this season Sharks let their heads drop in the second half and seemed to lose heart.

Stompers A 41
Kavallieri 19

This game was postponed from the first programme of the season after Stompers refused to play as they considered the pitch to be dangerous after the prolonged works on the drainage at Marsa.

It was really decided at half back where Mirabelli and Satariano dominated their opposition, enabling the Stompers to launch many flowing attacks. By contrast, Kavallieri had far fewer options and relied much on their pack driving.

Stompers started with wind and territorial advantage, but Sean Doublesin scored for Kavallieri against the run of play.

Stompers soon replied after good passing movement to level the score.

Then Fountain scored again for Stompers with a typical burst and Malcolm Attard snatched up a silly drop out to add another, which he converted to give Stompers a 17-5 lead at half-time.

Bobby Bonavia drove over to bring Kavallieri back, converted by Roderick Attard, but Mirabelli, converted by Malcolm Attard, restored the leading margin.

In a game which deteriorated in quality and became scrappy and at times ill-tempered, Nikolic, Fountain and Mirabelli added further tries for Stompers and M. Attard converted one.

In reply, Kavallieri could only add a try by Sean Doublesin, converted by R. Attard. It was the sort of end-competition match that most people would rather forget.

Meanwhile, no club rugby matches are scheduled for this weekend as there is a SkolaSport event and training by the national team.
