Servisair GlobeGround is set to start its operations as the second ground handling service provider at Malta International Airport on Saturday, a company spokesman said.
Servisair GlobeGround offers a comprehensive range of aviation services at 150 airports worldwide, spanning 31 countries across four continents. It employs over 20,300 employees around the clock worldwide, including 40 in Malta.
The spokesman said the company in Malta will offer check-in, ramp and cargo services at the airport, which so far have been provided only by Air Malta. A new purposely built and equipped warehouse will be used for cargo.
Servisair GlobeGround is wholly owned by the French group Penauille PolyServices, a European leader specialising in the provision of services to businesses. Penauille acquired Servisair in early 1999 and GlobeGround in 2001.
Besides aviation interests, Penauille is a major provider of quality industrial cleaning and facility management services.
MIA said on Monday it had completed the certification process so that Servisair GlobeGround could commence its operations in Malta.
