The top two local couples in wheelchair dancing, Steven Fenech and Mandy Ghio and Christopher Sammut and Daniella Borg, have been invited to demonstrate wheelchair dancing to the Italian dance public during a two-day event next weekend.

Their coach Pippa Roberts has also been invited to the show.

Italy as yet has no competitive couples in the sport, which is recognised by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).

A spokesman for the Malta Wheelchair Dance Sport Association said it was an honour for the dancers to have been chosen for such a demonstration.

The association said it was a pity that Malta was not represented in the IPC due to lack of funds and support.
