The General Workers' Union public sector section has appealed to the government to restart negotiations with the unions on the revision of the public service collective agreement.

The union said discussions had been stalled for over two months, with the last meeting between the government and union representatives held on January 13.

Section secretary Josephine Attard Sultana said that during this period the union had not been informed of any counter-proposals.

The union said these delays were creating many uncertainties among public service employees, especially regarding the issue of pre-retirement leave and the proposed freezing of increments and salaries for three years.
