The University Chaplaincy invites University staff and other professionals for this year's Lenten reflections. Frances Hogan will be guiding three Lenten reflections from March 21 to 23 at 7.30 p.m. at the University Chapel of St Thomas More.
Ms Hogan has committed her life to making the Word of God known to lay people in the Church to deepen their prayer life and commitment to Christ.
She taught Scripture at Milltown Institute of Philosophy and Theology in Dublin for seven years.
Since 1975 she has worked full-time as a lay missionary, giving scripture courses, retreats and working in parishes opening up the scriptures to the people. She has written about 10 books.
The theme of the reflections this year will be 'The Mystery of Crucified Love'. Ms Hogan described them in these words: "The world is addicted to power in all its forms. No unbeliever could imagine that if God came to live among us that He would end up our concept of power.
The mystery we have to consider is that Jesus's interpretation of power is self-giving, self-emptying, and self-sacrifice, even unto total destruction, for the sake of liberating others to experience the fullness of life and love. Crucified Love is power at the service of love."
Babysitting will be provided during the reflections. Both old and new University entrance gates will be open to facilitate parking on the ring road.
