One of the WCRD activities is a conference on health insurance to be held at the Corinthia Palace Hotel, Attard, on Friday at 8.30 a.m. It is organised by the Consumer Affairs Council.

The speakers include Annabritta Biederbick, specialist in German health insurance and social law at the legal department of the Association of Private Health Insurance, who is going to discuss the social responsibility aspect of health insurance.

Other speakers represent the insurance sector, medical practioners, the financial regulator from the MFSA, and consumers.

Simon Camilleri, of the Malta Insurance Association, will discuss the question "Can the Maltese consumer afford Health Insurance?", Dr Mario Zerafa, of the Medical Association of Malta, will discuss the medical profession's perspective, Geoffrey Bezzina, consumer complaints manager at the Malta Financial Services Authority, will explain how the regulator is protecting the consumer's interest, and Joseph Mallia, a member of the Consumer Affairs Council, will discuss the question: "Are the Maltese insured getting value for their money?"
