I refer to Julian Zarb's letter Airport Taxi Drivers (March 2).

I did not require a taxi when I came to Malta last October. I was met by friends but I am sure that on my previous visits over the many years, a taxi booth existed in the arrivals area.

One would pay the fair and be given a ticket by the booth attendant to give to the taxi driver so stopping any chance of being overcharged.

Has this been discontinued? I thought it was one of the best things regarding taxi drivers that I found in Malta. If it has been stopped I can understand travellers' displeasure, having experienced some taxi drivers' fares in the past.

If it has been discontinued, let's hope that someone in authority will get it reinstalled for the sake of all tourists to your great country who can be put off by some taxi drivers' fares.
