Two HSBC employees, Godfrey Swain and Michelle Grech, have produced a number of posters and pamphlets for Nature Trust (Malta)'s Marine Rescue Team.

The material, produced with the support of the HSBC Cares for the Environment Fund, includes details which the public can refer to in the event that they come across an injured marine animal, such as how to contact the team in an emergency.

The posters are being distributed in police stations, schools, local councils, hotels and community groups.

The two employees took this initiative following their participation in HSBC Group's Investing In Nature programme through which, every year, 500 HSBC employees from around the world are given an opportunity to take part in environmental projects.

The Marine Rescue Team, which is officially recognised by the Environment Protection Directorate, consists of a group of volunteers made up of biologists, marine mammal medics, divers and veterinarians.

The team is on standby 24 hours a day, seven days a week and its main objective is to rescue and rehabilitate injured or stranded cetacea and turtles along Malta's coastline.

Further details on the team as well as copies of the posters and pamphlets are available by calling Nature Trust on 2131 3150.

The team's emergency numbers are 9942 2085 or 9942 2086.
