A Rabat man was yesterday charged with stealing a car and antique coins and trying to steal a boat engine.

Reginald Bugeja, 32, pleaded not guilty to stealing Romona Attard's Fiat Punto and damaging it, stealing antique Australian dollars to the detriment of Duminku Schembri and causing damage to Attard's car and Schembri's property between February 28 and March 4.

Bugeja also pleaded not guilty to trying to steal a Yamaha 9.9 outboard engine and relapsing.

Magistrate Antonio Mizzi remanded him in custody.

Police Inspector Anthony Portelli prosecuted.

Dr Edward Gatt appeared for Bugeja.
