A restaurant director was yesterday fined Lm500 for employing a woman who did not have a work permit.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera found Joseph Martin Borg guilty of illegally employing the woman at his restaurant in Bugibba on and before August 2004.

Wong Wau Pang was cleared of the same charges after the magistrate noted he ran the restaurant but was not involved in the employment of staff.

Police Inspector Mario Haber prosecuted.
