Accused of drug trafficking near detox centre

A Valletta man was yesterday charged with trafficking in heroin within 100 metres from the detox centre at St Luke's Hospital.

Michael Zahra, 33, was also charged with the possession of 29 sachets of heroin in circumstances denoting it was not for his personal use and relapsing on and before March 6.

Magistrate Michael Mallia heard Zahra plead not guilty to the charges.

He was remanded in custody.

Police Inspector Pierre Grech prosecuted.

Dr Beppe Fenech Adami was appointed legal aid to Zahra.
