An industrial tribunal has ordered Auto Sales Ltd to compensate former employee Saviour Sammut after finding he was unfairly dismissed.

The GWU said Mr Sammut had been working as a mechanic for eight months when he was told he needed to go abroad on work for a month and a half.

Mr Sammut could not do so, as he was getting married within a few months, but had been prepared to go after he was married. His employment, however, was terminated.

The tribunal was presided by Joseph Bonnici.
