Din l-Art Helwa has published a new corporate brochure with the support of the Malta Tourism Authority that illustrates the historic properties the conservation NGO has restored in recent years and now holds in trust for the nation.
The colourful broadsheet gives the public information about the architectural and cultural value of such properties as The Red Tower in Mellieha, the Msida Bastion Garden of Rest and the Wignacourt Tower in St Paul's Bay, the unique medieval chapels of Hal Millieri, St Mary's of Bir Miftuh and St Roque in Zebbug, Mamu Tower near Marsascala, the coastal towers of Ghallis and Qaliet Marku, St Mary's Tower and Battery on Comino, and Dwejra Tower on Gozo. A map of Malta on the brochure indicates the way to these national treasures, many of which are off the normal tourist track.
Martin Scicluna, executive president of Din l-Art Helwa, while presenting the brochure to Mario Attard, director of the MTA's product planning and development directorate, said that support from the MTA was invaluable to volunteer organisations such as Din l-Art Helwa and was an example of the MTA's policy to enhance cultural tourism.
The brochure will be available through MTA offices as well as from Din l-Art Helwa's main office and from the properties themselves.
