The Department of Health last year issued two licences to medical diagnostic laboratories to carry out genetic tests. Public entities do not need a licence for such tests. One of the labs has a permit to carry out the tests locally while the other has a permit to send samples for testing abroad.

The information was given by Health Minister Louis Deguara in reply to a parliamentary question by Clyde Puli (PN).
