To gain political advantage by calling Lawrence Gonzi and the Nationalist Party cowards is one thing and maybe to a certain extent acceptable but to call them undemocratic is deplorable, especially when such a comment derives from the MLP. This because the MLP, as history has judged it until now, is the most undemocratic party that has ever existed on this island so far.
Let us not forget the period of the 1980s up to 1987 when the MLP ruled the country despite not having the backing of the majority of the electorate. Those six years were tainted with murders, conspiracies and the burning down of almost every PN club in Malta. Also, as far as I know, elements within the new Labour of today were part of Labour then.
Let us not forget the EU referendum of 2003, when by a clear majority the yes vote had won the referendum but Alfred Sant had caused public peril by sending his supporters on the streets claiming victory of the no vote because the dead people had "abstained" from voting.
Let us not forget the thousands of court applications the MLP filed in court to withdraw people's right to vote during the European Parliament's election. They tried to withdraw the votes of students studying abroad, diplomats and elderly people. Please do not forget that most of the applications were lost or withdrawn.
Therefore, Dr Sant, Jason Micallef and the rest, whom are you calling undemocratic? No wonder you are not in power and no wonder the MLP will not be in government for as long as you continue leading your party.
