A licensed VRT (vehicle roadworthiness test) tester was yesterday conditionally discharged for three years for certifying vehicles as roadworthy when he did not carry out the test.

On examining evidence brought forward by the prosecution, Magistrate Giovanni Grixti found John Busuttil, 44, guilty of forging VRT documents and making malicious use of the documents on January 24 and July 12, 2002.

Police Inspector Stephen Mallia prosecuted.
