The blue sticker issued to persons with disability offering various benefits, including parking in reserved spaces, is being replaced by a new permit.

The change is in line with EU recommendations to make the document universal in a way that Maltese holders can use them in other EU countries too while persons coming from overseas can use them here.

The present blue sticker will not remain valid as of March 21. The National Commission for Persons with Disability, which had started the replacement process a year ago, said the new permit format will include a photograph and the signature of the holder. Over 4,000 blue stickers have already been replaced.

The commission is urging persons with disability, who for some reason or other have not yet replaced their document, to contact it on Monday and Friday between 9 a.m. and noon and on Wednesday between 1.30 and 4.30 p.m.

The replacement exercise is being carried out in cooperation with the Police Commissioner.
