Action at Sedqa stepped up

Industrial action at Sedqa was stepped up yesterday with employees directed to only organise and attend client-related meetings and not to process administrative reports.

The Union Haddiema Maghqudin (UHM) expressed satisfaction that the employees cooperated and followed the directives.

The union's public entities section secretary Jesmond Bonello said the UHM had to resort to industrial action after the agency's management did not pay the workers the increments they were due. Last week the union ordered a one-hour strike, after it registered an industrial dispute with Sedqa on February 1.

Attempts to contact Sedqa's operations director Jean Claude Cardona were unsuccessful.
