Alternattiva Demokratika is proposing the creation of a permanent committee responsible for safeguarding the rights of Paceville residents.

"Its responsibilities would include ensuring that establishments would be sound-proofed, the protection of the environment and cleanliness in the streets," said Faye Palmqvist, AD's candidate in the St Julians local council election.

"One of our main concerns in St Julians is Paceville. Among the worst problems faced by Paceville residents, one could mention those having to do with parking and noise," she said in a press conference at which she presented various proposals for the locality on behalf of AD.

Ms Palmqvist said AD would get establishments that sell food and drink and others that provide entertainment to provide bins outside the establishment so the streets are not littered.

"It is not fair that Paceville residents frequently face parking problems. For this reason Alternattiva Demokratika will work to implement a parking system which would guarantee the allocation of parking areas for residents in residential areas," she added.

"The Greens will also work to create pedestrian areas and areas within which traffic is limited so as to avoid traffic congestion."
