The Life Cycle Organisation has launched its challenge for 2005: Acropolis, The Hard Way, a 1,850 km cycle ride by a group of between 30 and 40 persons from the Hungarian capital, Budapest to the Acropolis in Athens, Greece.
The participants will leave Malta on August 28 and return on September 9.
The Life Cycle Organisation was founded in 1999 with the aim of creating an awareness, generating support for patients suffering from end-stage chronic kidney disease and raising funds for the Renal Unit of St Luke's Hospital.
Each year since 1999, a group of amateur cyclists have volunteered to undergo an arduous 16-week training period to prepare themselves for the annual challenge.
Life Cycle also works in conjunction with the Organ Transplant Support Group to raise awareness about organ transplants.
Life Cycle has just started recruiting its cyclists. Applications are being received on the relevant forms, which can be downloaded from www.lifecyclechallenge.com or obtained from St Aloysius College Sports Complex in Birkirkara.
