A round table meeting was held between the Lord Mayor of London, Alderman Michael Savory, and the major employer bodies in Malta, the Chamber of Commerce, FOI, the Malta Employers Association, the Chamber of Small and Medium Enterprises (GRTU) and the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association.
At this meeting, held at the Exchange Buildings on Wednesday, the FOI was represented by its president, Anton Borg.
During his address, besides introducing the Lord Mayor to the role and functions of the federation, Mr Borg touched on the federation's involvement in UNICE and the strong relationship the federation has built over the years with the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), as well as the British High Commission in Malta.
Mr Borg also highlighted the importance of the permanent representation of the FOI in Brussels through the Malta Business Bureau. He also referred to the forthcoming important meetings of the Commonwealth Business Council and Commonwealth Heads of Government, and the state visit by Queen Elizabeth.
