The 2004/05 Malta Handball Association season has now reached its half-way mark as the main challengers in each five competitions are becoming more clearly defined.
In the men's championship, La Salle and Aloysians lead the standings on 12 points. The third round match between these two rivals seems likely to settle the championship issue.
La Salle head the pack in the women's league although nearest rivals Kavallieri and Aloysians are close behind in the current standings.
In the men's Promotion League, La Salle A are leading the standings with 12 points followed by Aloysians on nine.
The other teams, La Salle 'B', Kavallieri and Depiro already seem to be out of the race for the title.
Aloysians and La Salle 'A' will battle it out between them in the Promotion League for women. At the end of the first round, both teams are tied on the 10-point mark with La Salle 'B', Depiro and Kavallieri languishing at the bottom end of the table.
La Salle are the undisputed leaders in the Boys U-16 League.
They lead the standings on 15 points, three ahead of Aloysians, who have also played a match more.
Kavallieri and Depiro are third on six points while D-hs have three points.
