The EuroSport Super Cup finals will be played tomorrow afternoon at Ta' Qali. In the men's contest, Pembroke, the champions, face BUPA Luxol. Women's champions Depiro Still are again faced with the challenge of perennial rivals Hibs Go Mobile.

When Pembroke and Luxol last met in cup competition, the MBA Shield final, it was the latter who claimed the first season honour way back in November.

However, since that match the fortunes of both teams experienced different paths.

While Pembroke embarked on a scorching run of victories, which saw them on the losing end on one occasion only (against Hamrun in the league), Luxol's form suffered a dip after a series of injuries to key players.

Luxol have shown signs of improvement lately with their defence doing an efficient job to revive their play-offs chances in the Kinnie League.

In all probability, Luxol are most likely to recover sharp shooter Robert Azzopardi from injury as well as playmaker Steve Schembri.

Pembroke will again rely on cohesion and teamwork in their bid to win the Super Cup. They start favourites and if top-scorer Michael Naudi again delivers the goods, then it would be extra difficult for Luxol to wrest this title from Joe Galea's team.

Depiro won the Super Cup last year and will be after their second honour after beating Naxxar in the MBA Shield earlier in the season.

Matches involving Hibs and Depiro have dominated the scene in women's basketball for many a year now. Balance prevailed on most occasions.

Hibs have to plan better tactics to block Depiro's tall players, who together with prolific scorer Dorianne Galea, form the backbone of the team. In their last encounter in the league, on February 4, Depiro beat Hibs 71-60.
