Since I wrote my letter regarding the parking problem in Sliema, St Julians and Paceville, we have returned home in the United States, where we have no parking problems.

I did not expect Adrian Leone Ganado or anyone else that owns a garage to agree with me. I would like to know how many garage owners are as sympathetic as Mr Leone Ganado to let a neighbour park in front of their garage without coming out of their homes storming and screaming because their garage is being blocked.

That happened to me and I was threatened that if I did not move my car they will call the police and have my car towed. The purpose of having yellow lines painted in front of a garage is for the owners to have access to the garage and not to park as a reserved area. I do not agree that you have to find an alternate parking place because you have to use your car later in the day. Do not be selfish, park your car in the garage and you will not be fined.

The problem in Malta is that everyone wants one's cake and to eat it too. How many families have a car and a motorcycle and the owners park the motorcycle in the middle of the white lines to reserve the parking spot so they could park their car when they return home and move the motorcycle in between two cars thereafter? No one should be able to pull that dirty trick either. Cities and villages have police and traffic wardens. Let them do their job and bring in revenue to the town at the expense of the violators.
