I refer Sylvana Debono's contribution (January 25).

Yes, we Sliema residents all know very well that the Sliema residential parking zone is very badly needed now and not immediately prior to the opening of the car park.

At least Ms Debono knows and had declared that we residents have parking problems now. Only God knows if and when the car park she has in mind becomes operative. I hereby ask Ms Debono to state in plain ordinary language why the residential parking zone scheme in Qui-Si-Sana has not been installed already, like the one at The Strand, Sliema, Birkirkara, Floriana, Hamrun etc. Why must we Qui-Si-Sana residents wait till the car park is constructed?

A car park had already been constructed in High Street, as declared by Ms Debono, but half of this had been turned into a supermarket with the approval of Mepa. Is a car park required or not? Can Ms Debono, please in plain language, explain what the car park developer who has also been awarded the tender of the development of the Chalet area as well will be constructing and on what terms?

Truly, perhaps, one could have seen all this at Mepa but what harm is there in Ms Debono explaining the development and terms agreed with the developer, to elderly people like myself, who might find it difficult to get to Mepa in Floriana or the Lands Office in Valletta?

Finally, let it be known to Ms Debono that in spite of the fact that the car park developer at The Chalet and at Qui-Si-Sana does not also operate the car park in High Street, it does not necessarily mean that there will be "competition between the prices charged for parking".
