MCI Valentine's Day concert

The Malta Cultural Institute is holding a special St Valentine's Day concert at the Casino Maltese, Republic Street, Valletta, tomorrow at 7 p.m., followed by a pasta buffet at the intimate Buko Restaurant of the Manoel Theatre.

The Night of Romance concert is a joint effort, presented by the Marie Therese Vassallo Voice Studio and the Ballet School. Ms Vassallo herself has put the programme together.

The soirée will feature a mixture of dance and song - two pas de deux performed by Janice Spiteri and Donald Mallia to the theme from Romeo and Juliet - A Time For Us, and Gezimina - a Maltese dance - by Charles Camilleri; a dance to Offenbach's Les Papillons.

The vocal part of the concert includes songs by Ivor Novello, Rossini's Cats' Duet sung by Eleonora and Joseph Zammit; F. Vassallo's L-Ewwel Imhabba, sung by Rita Scicluna, and Dejjem Nibqa' Nhobbok, interpreted by Marie Therese Vassallo.

Other singers include soprano Claire Caruana and soloists of the Marie Therese Vassallo Voice Studio Miriam Camilleri, Patricia Darmanin, Ivy Fleri and Stella Falzon.

The audience will be treated to Tom Jones hits sung by Paul Gatt, Charles Axiak and Marvic Aquilina, and will also be invited to participate in the finale.
