The Sacred Heart's Junior School recently organised a Sympathy Walk in support of Stephen Teager's End-to-End Challenge on February 5. Mr Teager, a parent of a child attending the school, walked from Çirkewwa to Marsaxlokk earlier this month in aid of the Malta Red Cross relief effort to support tsunami-hit victims in Sri Lanka.
The school took the initiative to raise funds and walk in solidarity with Mr Teager when he shared his plans with the school administration. The younger children left their classes at 9.30 a.m. and walked round the gardens on the school premises, carrying the school banner. The older classes started their walk at 10 a.m. in the direction of Balluta Bay, towards Independence Gardens. Some parents, who offered to assist, encouraged the children and supported the school staff throughout the activity.
Mr Teager, accompanied by fellow organiser David Milton, left Cirkewwa at around 8.15 a.m. and passed through Mellieha, St Paul's Bay and Xemxija. They finally passed into Zebbug, Luqa and Zejtun, before arriving at the final destination, Marsaxlokk, at around 5.30 p.m. Mr Teager was greeted with car honks of support throughout the trip.
