Filippo Zammit Primary School in ..... has became the 2,000th school to register for Spring Day in Europe.

On this day, as in previous years, national and European figures will visit schools and take part in online chats to answer pupil's questions and debate European issues. Spring Day this year is on March 17 and will focus on the European Constitution.

The European Schoolnet is inviting all European schools, primary and secondary, to join and register in the Spring Day in Europe Project. This is the third year that this project is being organised and last year over 5,000 schools participated, including 15 schools from Malta.

The European Schoolnet is an international association of more than 23 European ministries of education developing learning for schools, teachers and pupils across Europe mainly through ICT. Schools are encouraged to organise an activity on or around March 17. The official Spring Day website - http://futurum2005.eun.org - which is also available in Maltese, offers teachers outstanding resources, discussions, news, classroom activities and practical examples of what can be done.

For those taking European studies, this site is a must, but it also contains a wealth of information for the general student about the EU and themes such as values, tolerance, cultural differences and what it really means to be a European citizen.

Schools who register will receive a monthly newsletter and printed material to help them organise an event and be part of this exciting project. You can register your school online now at http://futurum2005.eun.org/ww/en/pub/futurum2005/misc/register.cfm For help and further information contact Sue Privitelli at sue.privitelli@onvol.net.
