'Record crowd' at Nadur carnival

This year's Nadur carnival, held over last weekend, attracted a record crowd, the local council said.

It was the weekend in which the highest number of Maltese and tourists crossed over to Gozo to enjoy the revelry, the council added, citing Gozo Channel figures.

The Nadur carnival is held over five days and is both organised and spontaneous. The council intends to continue working to attract more and more people to Gozo.

Meanwhile, it is working on the organisation of the XXV convention of cities that have carnival, scheduled for the end of May and the beginning of June in Nadur.

The convention is attracting about 600 people - carnival organisers from around the world - to Gozo for eight days.

As part of the activity, an organised carnival is being held on May 29 and a spontaneous carnival on June 3 and 4.

The local council expressed its gratitude towards the organisers, the police, wardens and the Gozo section of the Red Cross for helping to keep order.
