The Tennis Academy was launched last year by the Malta Tennis Federation, aimed for children aged between six and 10 years, with the primary intention of promoting the game even further.
The Academy was not set up to compete with local clubs who are already doing an excellent job in providing coaching to their junior players, the federation has said.
It strives, however, to compliment this by offering further intensive training with emphasis, among other things, on proper physical preparation.
The courses are supervised by national coach Dusan Janicijevic.
All coaches at the Academy hold Level One certificates and two of them have recently succeeded in passing the Level Two Course.
The Academy has also acquired the services of another top foreign coach, Sanja Jukic. She represented the former Yugoslavia in the Federation Cup.
Students attending these courses are placed in different categories according to their level of play and age group. Only those who do not show commitment and desire to improve will be asked to drop from the Academy.
It is the intention of the Junior MTF to eventually invite those who have reached a satisfactory level to join training with the national junior team.
The next term is commencing this month.
The federation is inviting all those interested in joining the Academy to contact official Tanya Gravina (9947-3481 or tgravina@onvol.net) by not later than February 16.
