A group of former St Aloysius College pupils have set up the Fr Charles Caruana S.J. Memorial Fund to help underprivileged students of the college and to provide an annual prize to an outstanding student of English literature.

Fr Caruana died in a road accident last week.

The fund will be run by a board of trustees and regulated by a statute while audited accounts will be available to all contributors and former students of the college.

The fund will collect donations and invest them. The purpose is to keep Fr Caruana's memory alive in appreciation of the "very positive, unique and formative role" that he played in education.

The trustees are Gordon Caruana-Dingli, Nicky Bianchi, Pierre Travers Tauss, Eric Muscat and Stephen A. Petroni.

Cheques should be sent to the Fr Charles Caruana S.J. Memorial Fund, c/o KPMG, Portico Buildings, Marina Street, Pietà.

Donations can also be deposited in the fund in Bank of Valletta (Gzira branch) account number 40014050585.
