AQUILINA. On February 3, at St Luke's Hospital, CARMENA, widow of Paul, aged 78, passed away to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Twanny and Suzanne, Albert, Joe and his wife Doris, Mary and her husband Mario Polidano, and Connie and her husband Anton Ricca, grandchildren and great-grandchild, other relatives and friends. - R.I.P.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital today at 8 a.m. for Christ the King parish church, Paola, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. CASOLANI. On February 3, MAVIS née Vella, passed peacefully away at the age of 56 comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her great loss her son Simon and his wife Denise, her daughter Janika and her fiancée Edward, her only granddaughter Martina, her brothers Lino, Derek and his wife Helen, Kenneth and his wife Betty, James and Denise, Mark and his wife Anna, and Adrian and Nadya, her sister Gloria and her husband Albert Gatt Floridia, her step-mother Yvonne Vella, nephews and nieces, her close friends Ian Baird and Rene Buttigieg, other relatives and numerous friends.
Mass praesente cadavere will be said at Ta' L-Ibragg parish church tomorrow at 9.30 a.m., followed by interment in the family vault at Santa Maria Addolarata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Hospice Movement will be appreciated. May she rest in peace.

She leaves to mourn her loss her children Tessie, widow of her son Frank, Richard and his wife Eileen, Emanuel and his wife Rose, Aronne and his wife Antoinette, Vincent and his wife Rose, Raymond and his wife Violet, and Anna and her husband Joe Degiorgio, her brothers Rev. Aronne Abela, Joseph, Evaristo and Mary, widow of Renaldo, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends. - R.I.P.

ZAMMIT. On February 2, at St Luke's Hospital, ERMINIA, of Cospicua, residing at Marsascala, aged 80, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Joseph, her children Frank and his wife Mary, Marianne and her husband Joseph Micallef, her grandchild Lorna, her sister Giga, her brothers-in-law and their wives, other relatives and friends. - R.I.P.

ZAMPA. On January 25, at King's College Hospital, London, VICTOR, aged 70, passed peacefully away, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Ann née Todd, his children Stephen, Melita and Rudy, his brothers Joseph and his wife Mary, and Frank and his wife Rina, his sister Doris and her husband Robert Gatt, his nephews, nieces, relatives and many close friends.
Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated today at 2.15 p.m. at St Paul Shipwrecked parish church, Valletta, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

Equality conference

The National Commission for the Promotion of Equality for Men and Women will be holding a national conference on February 18 to celebrate its first anniversary.

The aim is to outline the work and achievements of the commission over the last year and to discuss strategies for the coming year.

The chief commissioner of the Irish Equality Commission, Dame Joan Harbison, will give the keynote address.

There will also be three workshops.

NCPE said participation in the conference should be confirmed by February 11.

The registration fee is LM5.

Band Concert

St Catherine Band of Zurrieq will be presenting a musical programme at Sir Temi Zammit Hall of the University, Tal-Qroqq on February 19 at 7 p.m.

The concert forms part of a programme to mark the 1,700th anniversary of the martyrdom of St Catherine of Alexandria.

The band will be directed by Francis Falzon.

Tickets, which are free, can be obtained from the band club.

Feast of St Blaise

The feast of St Blaise will be celebrated with Holy Mass at the hurch dedicated to the saint in the limits of Zebbug on Sunday at 10 a.m.

The traditional blessing of bread and fruit will be made after Mass.

Some years ago the 15th century church was entrusted to the Social Action Movement which restored it through a donation by Lombard Bank and now uses it for social, cultural and socio-pastoral activities.

Church models

The annual exhibition of models of churches, statues and sacred objects will be held at the parish hall in Church Avenue, Paola from March 2 - 9.

The exhibition is held by an organising committee under the auspices of Christ the King parish church feast committee.

It will open from 9 a.m. to noon and 4.30 to 8 p.m.

Entrance is free.

Road Works

Due to works to be carried out along Triq ta' l-Ghadba and Triq S. Borg Olivier, Siggiewi, the following traffic arrangements will be in place from 7 a.m. tomorrow to 6 a.m. on Monday:

Vehicular traffic and public transport in both directions through part of Triq is-Siggiewi coming from Siggiewi and Zebbug will be controlled by traffic wardens at both ends of the road (at the junction with Triq ta' l-Ghadba and the junction with Triq S. Borg Olivier) and will flow through the carriageway in the direction from Siggiewi to Zebbug.

Car missing

A red Hyundai car bearing the registration number BAK 515 was reported stolen from Mosta on January 17. Anyone spotting the car is asked to phone 2123 0525 or 2157 4891.

Cultural soirée

The St Aloysius' College cultural soirée will be held between tomorrow and Tuesday.

Three-quarters of the proceeds from the events will go towards the tsunami victims and a quarter towards the Jesuit retreat house of Mount St Joseph.

The soirée boasts of 250 participants, all of whom will express their talent in a 30-minute musical, recitals, play and a comedy.

Booking is open from the college sixth form secretary's office.
