MIFSUD. On January 30, at Gozo General Hospital, EMANUEL, aged 90, went to meet the Risen Lord comforted by the rites of the Holy Church. The funeral leaves Gozo General Hospital tomorrow at 3.30 p.m. for St Peter and St Paul Basilica, Nadur, Gozo where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 4.15 p.m. followed by interment at Nadur cemetery, Gozo.

PACE. On January 31, GINA, aged 76, formerly of Batu Haberdashery, Victoria, Gozo, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of the Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her brothers and sisters, Carmelina, Lucy and her husband Joseph Buttigieg, her sister-in-law Maryanne Pace, Bert and his wife Tessie, Mary and her husband Teddie Mallia, Anton and his wife Maryanne, her nephews and nieces, many relatives and friends.

Power cuts

Enemalta Corporation said a number of localities will be without power today and tomorrow as maintenance work is undertaken on the electricity distribution system.

Power cuts will affect the following streets today:

St Paul's Bay (8 a.m. till 3 p.m.) - San Pawl, Dawret San Pawl, It-Tarag, Ix-Xaghra tal-Bandieri, Tal-Bypass.

St Paul's Bay (8.30 a.m. till 3.30 p.m.) - part of San Anton, Ix-Xitwa and parts of Dawret il-Gzejjer and San Xmun.

Mosta (8 a.m. till 2 p.m.) - parts of Is-Saghjtar, G. Vella and its environs.

Kalkara (8 a.m. till 5 p.m.) - Il-Barklori, Bighi, Patist Borda, l-Ghassieli, Il-Luqqata, Sqaq Marina 2, Il-Missjoni Taljana, Luigi Pisani, Sir Agostino Portelli, Ir-Rinella, Is-Salvatur, San Guzepp, Is-Sibi, Is-Sienja, L-Isptar Navali and Il-Villa Ta' L-Ammirall.

Swieqi (8 a.m. till 2.30 p.m.) - parts of Il-Gizimin, Is-Swieqi and Il-Qasam.

Electricity will also be temporarily suspended tomorrow in Xewkija due to maintenance works between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

There will also be no electricity in Zabbar from 7.30 a.m. to 7 p.m. in these streets: Il-Bikri, Il-Bur, Caligaria, Tal-Horfa, Il-Kapuccini, Il-Lembija, Il-Liftija, Il-President tar-Repubblika, Ir-Rihan, Is-Selq, Iz-Zingla, Wigi Bongailas, A. Caligari, Elessio Erardi, L-Indivia, Il-Karmnu, Lia, Il-Palm, Il-Qalb Imqaddsa, Santa Duminka and L-Iskola.

And in Qormi in Il-Gizi, Il-Gladjoli, Babisku, Il-Hamrija and Vjal il-Labour streets.

MGRM volunteers

The Malta Gay Rights Movement is calling for volunteers to man the National Gay Helpline, 2143 0006.

The helpline has been in operation for the past six months and has responded to about 75 calls. It is run by a team of volunteers who have received training from Agenzija Appogg.

The line is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 6 and 9 p.m.

Anyone interested in volunteering is asked to call 2143 0006 or send an e-mail to helpline@maltagayrights.org.

An application form may be downloaded from www.maltagayrights.org and mailed to MGRM, 32, Parish Street, Mosta MST 03.

All helpline volunteers will be expected to attend training before commencing their service. A minimum commitment of two shifts per month for a period of six months is required.

Power supply

The power supply in Qawra was yesterday suspended due to maintenance work on the electrical system in the following streets: Nicola Ardonio, Il-Bekkun, Il-Brankutli, Andrew Cunningham, Carmelo De Lucca, Giuseppe Despott, Stamnar, Ruggero Loria, Il-Majjiera, Montbatten, Il-Mulett, Horatio Nelson, Il-Port Ruman, It-Tamar, Il-Luzzu and Il-Qawra.

Enemalta said the work had to be continued after hours and was expected to be completed by midnight yesterday.

Cartoons contest

The Cartoons on the Bay 2005 - 9th International Festival on Television Animation will be held in Positano, Italy between the April 27 and May 1.

The Malta Council for Culture and the Arts said persons interested in taking part should send their work to the secretariat of the competition at the e-mail address underneath by not later than February 15.

Carnival tickets

The National Folklore Commission is offering a number of complimentary tickets for carnival celebrations in Valletta to persons with a disability and to organisations caring for such people.

Tickets, which will be given out on a first-come-first-served basis, may be collected from the National Commission Persons with Disability, Centru Hidma Socjali, Sta Venera during office hours.

Blessing of children

The Catholic Action women's section is inviting parents to the presentation of infants and the blessing of children which will be held tomorrow at 5.30 p.m. at Ta' Pinu Sanctuary during a concelebration led by Bishop Nikol Cauchi.
