Alternattiva Demokratika has called on the government not to bow to pressure of multinational corporations and MPs who it said seem to ignore the risks posed by GMOs to human health and the livelihood of farmers.

AD said it will continue to support various NGOs including the National Council of Women, the Progressive Farmers Union and various environment and animal welfare organisations which backed the call for Malta to be declared a GMO-free zone.
