The Malta Confederation of Women's Organisations (MCWO) was officially launched yesterday.
The confederation, which has a democratic set-up but no political affiliation, aims to represent the concerns, needs and interests of women from all walks of life through dialogue and networking at both a national and international level.
The Association of Breastfeeding Counsellors, the Attard Ladies' Cultural Club, the female employees of Maltacom, the General Workers' Union, the Group of Independent Members, the Malta Association of Women in Business, the Malta Council of Disabled Persons, the Social Action Movement, Soroptimists International, the Union Haddiema Maghqudin and the Women's Study Group make up the confederation.
The MCWO aims to represent women's non-governmental organisation and individual members at the European women's lobby group in Brussels.
The work programme of the MCWO this year will focus on women and work and law reform.
