Questions to answer
We, residents of Qui-Si-Sana, Sliema, all know very well that it is the authorities' intention to construct an underground car parking centre in Qui-Si-Sana. Most of the residents in the area are against the idea of a car park but all, and I mean undisputedly all, are against the construction of a monstrous development, with the excuse of a car park.
Is it true that the developer:
a) wants to construct three floors below street level for the parking of cars;
b) wants to construct another floor always below street level, on top of the three car park floors, for tourist amenities and commercial outlets (whatever these may be - shops, cafeterias, restaurants, discos, hotels, etc.);
c) wants to construct a kiosk above street level for the construction of a cafeteria;
d) wants to have in hand, "change of use" as and when required of all the above (keeping in mind "change of use" of another car park in Sliema, half of which is now a supermarket);
e) is expecting a donation by the authorities of some Lm200,000 for the construction of all the above and
f) is expecting all residents in the area to pay him (the developer) some Lm100 annually for each car for them to be allowed to park their car on the road instead of at the developer's underground car park?
Please, will someone from Mepa, the Lands Office or some other authority etc. enlighten me on the matter and say that the above is not true?
Perhaps, Mepa can please explain in detail what the proposed garden at street level will be like, say the depth of the soil in the said garden.
