Fourteen men were yesterday fined Lm55,788 between them for breaching Value Added Tax regulations.

Mario Debattista of Iklin was fined Lm4,164; Herman Mifsud of Siggiewi was fined Lm6,084; George Incorvaja of Birkirkara was fined Lm3,918; Carmelo Tanti of Mosta was fined Lm3,120; Francis Vassallo of Attard was fined Lm4,836;

Adrian Debono of Sliema was fined Lm4,062; Carmel Micallef of Mellieha was fined Lm3,990; Brian Camilleri of Sliema was fined Lm3,612; Joseph Gouder of Birzebbuga was fined Lm3,804; Francis Chircop of Zebbug was fined Lm3,990; Foud Hassanin Youssef Tayel of Zejtun was fined Lm4,248;

Joseph Pulé of Vittoriosa was fined Lm3,018; Keith Stagno Navarra of Sliema was fined Lm3,180 and Malcolm Muscat of Dingli was fined Lm3,762.

Magistrate Saviour Demicoli fined the men for failing to pay VAT after they had been ordered to do so by the court.

Paul Scicluna from the VAT Department and Police Inspector Alex Miruzzi prosecuted.
