Karl Cremona had an excellent start to the Dubai Junior Regatta as he currently holds second place in the provisional overall standings of the Optimist class.

After three races, Karl Strombeck is the undisputed leader. The Swede has eight points. Cremona is second on 19, one ahead of Denmark's Jes Lyhne Bonde.

Strombeck won yesterday's opening race with Cremona placing fifth. The other race was won by another Swede, Emma Oljelund. Cremona was sixth.

Laser 7.4 class leader Justin Onvlee, of South Africa, was beaten by compatriot Aaron Larkens yesterday, but bounced back to win race three to stay in control.

Adel Khalid, of the UAE, held second position overall at the end of the day after a seventh place finish in the second race and fifth in race three.
