Nature Trust Malta, the environmental NGO, is insisting with the Malta Environment and Planning Authority to take action on "what seems to be an illegal development" at Marsascala.
Nature Trust said it had already reported to Mepa and sent two reminders on the mushrooming of trapping hides in Zonqor Point.
It is ironic, the NGO noted, that the "apparently illegal development" is on the same site of a former illegal building, which was recently removed by Mepa itself.
Nature Trust urged the government to beef up the enforcement office of Mepa as this was understaffed and under-equipped to cope with the present rate of developmental misbehaviour.
Contacted about the matter, Mepa said the situation at present is that an application has been filed for the building of a four course boundary wall adjacent to Il-Blajjiet Street to avoid the dumping of material on the site. The wall was built without the necessary permit and Mepa has issued an enforcement order, a spokesman said.
