The third issue of Pink and the first of the New Year is out with The Times tomorrow, offering a number of in-depth features, together with additional ingredients.

Indeed, the January issue has added a touch of culture and history to its formula: WomanKind is the first in a series that digs up stories of women from the past - some famous, some infamous - all of whom have left an impact on their own and successive generations.

The third issue of the monthly magazine has also adopted a slant towards the working woman and the hardship she can face when trying to juggle a career and a family.

A recent survey has found that, while at age 25, there is almost the same number of women and men in the working world, beyond that age only 34 per cent of women remain in the labour market as opposed to 73 per cent of men.

InFocus looks into the reasons for the staggering gap and delves into the set-up that has been created in Malta to render the labour market accessible to mothers. It includes their first-hand accounts on whether motherhood is a break from the rat race or just a raw deal from the career point of view.

For other women, however, education and careers are a luxury they know nothing of. For them, everyday is a struggle to make ends meet; a fight for survival.

This month, EyeWitness zooms in on a harsh reality that many may not be aware of - destitution in Malta.

The third issue also contains the usual fix of fashion, beauty, health and fitness as well as prizes to be won for those who write in with their feedback on the magazine.

Pink is published by Allied Newspapers Ltd, printed by Progress Press Ltd and produced by MediaMaker. It is edited by The Times' journalists Fiona Galea Debono and Ariadne Massa and designed by Helen Cassar Torreggiani and Joseph Schembri.
