Cable TV firm installing digital service

Melita Cable has started installing digital set-top boxes in the homes of subscribers who pre-booked their digital TV services through which they will start enjoying a choice of 77 TV channels, mostly in stereo sound and with enhanced picture quality.

Melita Digital said it had a very strong response to its pre-booking campaign.

Over 1,000 digital set-top boxes in more than 500 homes will be connected to digital TV this month.

The improvement in the channels provided by Melita Digital as well as the improved experience of stereo sound and enhanced picture are provided to customers at an additional Lm2 a month, the company said.

During this pre-launch phase customers will be connected to Melita World, enjoy the benefits of digital TV while continuing to pay their current analogue rates.

The official launch of Melita Digital is expected to take place in February.
