Arthur Cachia is the winner of the season's third ranking tournament, organised by the Malta Billiards and Snooker Association, and sponsored by Primatel.

The best-of-nine final was played at Naxxar's Peace Band Club.

Cachia beat Malta champion Alex Borg 5-2. Mike Farrugia was the referee.

Cachia took the initiative from the very first frame and directed the way of play as Borg could not settle down and never reached his usual standard of play.

In fact, the result before the break was already 4-0 for Cachia who played consistently well and compiled various breaks of 30, 40 and even a 64.

Borg regained some of his touch after the break to pull two frames back but in the seventh frame Cachia made sure of the tournament for a 5-2 win.

In all, 55 players took part and matches were staged in 16 MBSA affiliated clubs around Malta. The next ranking tournament, the last one of the season, is scheduled to start on February 7.
