Museum visitors on the rise

The total number of visitors to museums last year rose by 144,000 over 2003 to reach 1,238,386, figures given in parliament yesterday show.

As in 2003, Ggantija temples attracted the highest number of visitors last year - the figure for last year was 170,139.

Other major attractions were Hagar Qim, with 133,716 visitors, the State Rooms, which drew 125,370 visitors, the nearby Palace armoury, which drew 109,951 visitors and the Tarxien Temples, with 105,899 visitors.
